From a single bedroom to a full family home, Nice Air will recommend the right system and install it with care so it performs perfectly from day one.
Our systems are designed to give you:
All our brands represent excellent quality and value, however to really answer this question properly we need to listen to what you are trying to achieve – and then measure up and size your room or house – and only then will we be able to offer you some clear options and pros and cons. Are you after lowest initial cost? Or lowest running costs? Best reliability? WiFi control? Generally all models offer excellent efficiency and low noise levels – some however are better than others, and arguably there is a best one for each purpose. Tauranga Heat Pumps are exposed more to coastal air - and some brands offer superior protection. We can offer you as many free quotes as you need to help you make the best decision. There are also other brands out there that we don’t offer – happy to help you compare our offer to those too.
It’s really important to understand what noise to expect, and how heat pump installation can affect your sleep. Basically some heat pumps are quieter than others. Heat pump capacity Ducted System installations are far quieter than heat pumps - and heap pump installation planning should include mitigations for unnecessary noise. Nice Air can advise on this when we visit. We are massive fans of good sleeps!
Some brands have special component coatings that are far more resilient to coastal environments. Bay of Plenty Heat Pumps need protection. Nice Air also takes care to use stainless steel and galvanised heat pump insulation consumables for superior installation longevity. Heat Pump brands that do not have coatings should not be used near sea air!
No! Heat Pumps are the most efficient way to heat or cool your home. A Heat Pump can cost up to 50% less to run than gas heating, and 75% less than standard oil column or fan heaters. A heat pump can heat and cool. It uses vastly less energy than plain old electric heaters, or gas heaters – and costs massively less to run. As an example a normal electric heater (a fan heater, oil column, for wall panel) produces 1kW of heat for each 1kW of electricity used. A small heat pump can easily produce 4kWh of heat with only 1kWh of electricity. Yes – you read correctly, that’s actually 4 x as much, and is 400% efficient! So no, heat pumps are not expensive to run, in fact we firmly believe they are the cheapest form of heating and cooling solution available – by a very significant margin.
Yes - a heat pump can cool. Another name for a Heat Pump is Air Conditioner. All our Heat Pumps and Ducted Systems (which are just concealed heat pumps) can BOTH heat AND cool (though not at the same time!) This is why we like to say that a solution from us will keep you cool on the hottest days, and warm on the coldest.
No! In New Zealand, we call them heat pumps, but other countries call them air conditioners. Heat pumps and air conditioners are 100% the same thing! They use technology to cool and heat any room or space – making it a versatile option for year-round climate control.
There are several things to consider when determining what capacity heat pump you should buy. Nice Air can talk you through a capacity calculation for your room or home. Here are some of the things we will consider:
At Nice Air we know that all heat pumps installations are different. We can talk you through capacity and efficiency options for your home - so you can make the best informed decision for you.
At Nice Air we can offer excellent advice regarding heat pump installation for people with allergies. Various models are more allergy friendly than others, however ventilation solutions can also make a massive difference to air quality, pollen reduction, and general well being.
Every solution is a little different, however we aim to finish every single install on the same day. A simple Heat Pump install can take 3-4 hours, and a Ducted System will take up a whole day generally, sometimes 2 days. We can discuss this with you before you choose to go ahead, and we’ll make sure you know exactly what to expect. We will offer you a convenient date that works for you.

Everyone has slightly different needs though – so we will propose a solution that we think is the best for you, specifically. Nice Air offers a Heat Pump Installation workmanship warranty that matches the manufacturers term too, for absolute confidence.
A free in-home consultation is best. Just fill in our form! We need to determine the right specification and sizing for your room or house. We can do this off plans, and photos (showing locations), or (our favourite way) is a free home consultation. We can also offer a desk based proposal first (using your plans or room dimensions) then come out to verify installation details with you if you prefer. We aim to never add charges onto the bill later – 99% of our quotes are billed at the exact price in the quote and we prefer ‘fixed price’ quotations because we don’t believe in giving people nasty surprises on their bill.
Our quote will explain what to do, it’s really simple. Just follow the instructions and we’ll be back in touch really soon to agree a Heat Pump Installation date and time that suits you.
Yes, you do for best airflow. You need to clean the heat pump filters inside approximately every three months for the best results and for optimal airflow. Heat Pump Installation gets you up and running, however Heat Pump Maintenance is just as important for effective and efficient operation, and long term reliability.
Do not panic! During cold months this may mean the outdoor heat pump unit has gone into defrost mode. This is normal and should take 15 minutes to complete. Leave the heat pump unit as is and it will return to its normal operation.
If this has not worked after say 30 minutes, we recommend a reset procedure. Turn off the power supply outside by the outdoor unit, wait at least 15 minutes, then power back up. This does a factory reset, clears any error codes and should get you up and running. If this does not work, you should contact the people who installed the heat pump for support. They are always your best first call.
Maybe the kids ‘borrowed’ the batteries? Or, in most cases you just need to change the batteries in your heat pump remote. Open the back cover, remove and recycle the old ones - and fit nice new ones. Usually 2 AA or AAAs.
During the heating cycle, the outdoor unit gets cold, this is normal. Likewise, during cooling the indoor unit gets cold - and water is produced from condensation. Both these should drain to outside. If it is coming from the drain it is moisture that has been removed from inside. If it is coming from under the outdoor heat pump unit it is condensation and this is normal.
You should make sure that you keep the outdoor heat pump unit clear of any debris and greenery. Any plants growing into the unit can cause damage. Also airflow should not be restricted for the heat pump to function well. Finally, it’s best not to aid insects getting inside the outdoor unit.
We believe in offering the best advice, and the most thorough consultation and sales experience.
A free in-home consultation is the best way to get started - so we can advise you on options that will address your specific needs.
We then offer no obligation proposals and quotes, and help you explore the options fully.
Once you're ready to proceed, we can lock in an installation date.
We make sure the installation team is fully briefed. On larger jobs the sales consultant will also attend on installation day.
Once installed, we will help you understand how to use your new system and get the very best out of it.
It's a really big decision choosing someone for your heat pump installation or ducted system installation. Not just which brand of heat pump is best, what about the best way to install a heat pump, and getting the right advice? Who can you trust?
